Ski holidays in Lake Toya, Hokkaido, Japan
If you are looking for a beautiful destination not far from the ski slopes of Niseko and Rusutsu, then the village around Lake Toya could certainly be an option for a holiday.
Lake Toya (Toyako) is part of the Shikotsu-Toya National Park. As well as the beautiful lake, the area offers hot springs and close up views of one of Japan\'s most active volcano\'s, Mount Usu, which most recently erupted in the year 2000.
Toya-ko-onsen Hot Spring, which stretches out along the 43-kilometre diameter crater lake, is one of the best spa resorts in Hokkaido.
If you stay at the The Windsor Hotel Toya Resort & Spa then you do actually have your own private little ski area with around 4-5 lifts, cross country skiing and a small fun park. This is exclusively for hotel guests and has an absolutely magnificent view over Lake Toya.
To get to the other ski resorts such as Rusutsu is just over half an hour and there are daily buses which can take you there and bring you back.
