Ski holidays from the base of Sapporo, Japan
Sapporo, the largest city in Hokkaido is not a ski resort as such but does have many ski holiday destinations nearby. If you prefer to stay in a city and explore the area then have a few days out skiing in different areas then Sapporo is a fantastic option and area to base yourself.
Highlights of Sapporo include the Olympic ski jump and ski museum, Sapporo beer factory and the amazing ice festival in February.
The Sapporo Snow Festival is one of Japans largest winter events - every winter, around two million people come to Sapporo to see the hundreds of amazing snow statues and ice sculptures which line Odori Park, the grounds at Satoland, and the main street in Susukino.

Moiwa-yama – small but very close to Sapporo
Makomanai – small but very close to Sapporo
Sapporo Kokusai – 1 hour – beginners and intermediates
Kiroro – close and good for advanced as long as winds do not close the top section
Rusutsu - 1.5 hours
Nikekko – 2.5 hours
